Marijuana is the most used illegal drug in the United States today. And out of 14.6 people who use it, 4.8 million use it 20 days in a given month. In the mid nineties, the rate of young people in high school starting to use marijuana actually increased a substantial amount, displaying a threatening trend in the country.
It actually got worse after that study. In the late nineties, teenagers reported that they could relate their marijuana use to at least one major problem (there were significant amounts who reported two or three) in their life. Also, the incidence of teenagers reporting that a bag of marijuana was extremely easy to obtain tripled.
The amount of tar inhaled by marijuana smokers and the level of carbon monoxide absorbed by those who smoke marijuana are three to five times greater than among tobacco smokers. Regular marijuana users often develop breathing problems, such as chronic coughing and wheezing. Marijuana contains the same cancer causing chemicals as tobacco. Marijuana users are more likely to be underdeveloped emotionally, academically, and vocationally.
